GALVESTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
Henry Trochesset, Sheriff
PRESS RELEASE

November 14, 2013

Sheriff’s Deputies respond to a shooting death:

The Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 11:55pm last night to go to 209 11th st. in San Leon from Genevieve Harvey who told dispatchers that she shot her husband. Harvey said she took the gun from Lindsey Lewis Tarver and shot him. Tarver received a gun shot wound to the face and was pronounce deceased on the scene by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and found the gun used was a Ruger .357 revolver was located in a dresser drawer inside its carrying bag.

Harvey was too intoxicated at the time of the initial investigation to interview. Harvey reportedly told deputies that Tarver beats and rapes her all the time.

Sheriff’s Office records show several calls made to the above address, some for assault or disturbances. Deputies advised they know both subjects well. When deputies would try and make contact with her on past calls she never answers the door and when she would were no signs of a disturbance.

Genevieve Harvey,  46 , of San Leon,  was charged with Murder and placed in the county jail on $100,000.00 bond.

Comments:
"When deputies would try and make contact ... she would were no signs of a disturbance." WHY didn't deputies notify the appropriate agency to investigate this home ... as a retired officer, this is evidence that there IS A MAJOR problem inside this home ... prehaps an outside agency could have helped to avoid this entire situation

The following is what I am looking at:

"Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and found the gun used was a Ruger .357 revolver was located in a dresser drawer inside its carrying bag.

Harvey was too intoxicated at the time of the initial investigation to interview. Harvey reportedly told deputies that Tarver beats and rapes her all the time."

To me this sounds like there needs to be a lot more investigation done. I'm with nameless on this one.

"She never answers the door" I'm not a cop, But it doesn't take a genius to figure out if no one answers the door after a 911 call, HELLO,, We have a problem... maybe he kept her from answering the door... DAaaa.. Looks like we might want to take a closer look how the police dept. handles this stuff. If I call 911 and no one answers. I pray to god the police make sure i'm ok before they leave.. AMAZING!!!!

Evil is finally put down! I lived this nightmare for way too long, and still carry scars, emotionally and physically. He was always an abuser, and thankfully he will NEVER hurt another woman again. Thank God it's over!

Do not rush to judge either subject. That said, odds are pretty good that a self defense claim might lead a Grand Jury to No-Bill a battered wife.

Did she have any marks on her?
Posted by Lucas Jackson at 11/15/2013 12:44:33 PM

I AM A WOMAN WHO WAS ABUSED FOR MANY YEARS WITH NOONE KNOWING AND COPS WOULD COME TO THE HOUSE AND HE WOULD ANSWER AND THEY WOULD SAY ARE YOU OK MA'AM I WOULD SAY YES IF NOT I WAS BEAT AGAIN. EASIER SAID THEN DONE TO JUST LEAVE AN ABUSIVE PARTNER. THEY THREATHEN YOUR LIFE, TO HURT KIDS AND FAMILY. MANY TIME I WOULD RUN FOR MY LIFE I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO RUN AND NEVER LOOK BACK.

Lucky were you with the same man ?

Why was she charged?? With the little bit I'm seeing looks like this case should have been referred to the Grand Jury for charges, If any. But this is Galveston County....
Posted by lawyer at 11/15/2013 11:40:27 PM

Well Lawyer, maybe because she was plastered? And maybe because she wouldn't answer the door in the past? If she's innocent, it will come out in the investigation. Better to hold her and dismiss later than let a possible murderer get away. I hope she did it in self defense.

That's why Galveston County is called the DISMISS capitol of Texas..

Properly trained police officers will interview the wife out of sight and hearing range of the husband.
