HOUSTON -- The Amber Alert issued Saturday for four missing children from Galveston was cancelled after they were found safe in Tennessee.

The children were believed to be in a gold Escalade with their biological mother, Beverly Mickens. The vehicle has damage on the passenger side. It was apparently caused by an accident that happened with the children inside, and authorities were concerned they may need medical care.

Mickens took the children out of state in violation of a court order by Child Protective Services based on her extensive drug use and the children’s unstable home life.

CPS said they had legal custody of the children and they were to be placed with the father. The mother somehow gained access to the children and took them on Monday.

Mickens told authorities that she is coming back to Texas. They were concerned that she may be traveling under the influence of drugs.

Mickens also told authorities by phone that she has pneumonia and strep throat, causing further concern about the state of her health and its impact on the kids.

The children are 3-year-old Donovan Mickens, 4-year-old Deyon Mickens Jr., 6-year-old Donald Mickens and 9-year-old Donae Mickens.
