HOUSTON, TX — Call it dumb luck, or just an unfortunate series of events for two Harris County Sheriff's deputies who ran into a string of bad luck dealing with one suspect Monday night.

According to reports, an off-duty Harris County Sheriff's deputy was driving home in his personal vehicle, when he was hit by a car.

The driver of the car took off, and the deputy chased him to Connorvale Lane and Lillja in north Houston, KTRK reported.

The deputy got out of his car with his weapon drawn, and, while walking toward the vehicle, slipped in a puddle of water and accidentally fired his weapon, KHOU reported.

The hit-and-run suspect was grazed in the forehead by the bullet, and he was taken to Ben Taub Hospital.

A short time later, another deputy was assigned to watch the man being treated for his gunshot wound, when her patrol car was stolen from outside the hospital.

The stolen patrol car was tracked by GPS to a nearby gas station, where the thief was pulled over and surrendered.

Investigators have not said if the patrol car was unlocked or running when it was stolen.

Meanwhile, the man who was shot could still face felony evading charges and failure to stop, investigators said.

You can't make this sh...up
