SANTA FE - Thursday afternoon Santa Fe police responded to an address on Bob White Drive in the City after a man called police reporting he had shot a man.

Investigators learned that an altercation had occurred at the residence at which time the homeowner shot and killed the other man whose body was found sitting in a pickup truck with a pistol between his legs.

Santa Fe investigators were joined by two members of the Galveston County District Attorneys office which is a common practice in homicide investigations.

The shooter was taken in custody and cooperated with the investigative efforts.

Police are not saying what specifically what led to the altercation, however the victim was also armed with a pistol at the time of the shooting and the homeowner with a shotgun.

The findings of the investigation will be referred to a Galveston County Grand Jury which will determine whether the shooter will face charges or whether the shooting was justified.

The dead man was identified as Micheal Wayne Hansen, 52.

The homeown Robert Stanley Ott, 52, was released from custody.

Comments:

I knew this man Hansen, could be a good guy, if he wanted to be. Problem was, he just never wanted to be. Always talking about beating someone, or killing someone,(usually women, one, in particular) if they p@#$ed him off, which didn't take much. Sounds like he might have threatened the wrong man in this case. That's the way it goes. You can usually get away with threatening a person's well-being, but not in their own yard. God bless Texas, and the 2nd ammendment!!

Ott sure is a trigger happy little man. This is not the first person he has shot. How many people have you shot in your life time? Ott doesn't sound like a very good character.
